It is no surprise, then, that he assembles a massive cololective of musicians on Absolute Noise Ensemble to produce two discs and over 100-minutes of music that veers from complete silence to murky ambience to all-consuming waves of noise.

In 2004 Fracisco Lopez took part in the Brussels Sonic Matter project. The participants made field recordings of the streets and spaces of the city, which Lopez has now "mutated, composed, recorded and mastered" into a single 73 minute piece, Untitled #164. The grainy textures produced by Lopez from the materials efface any of the common signifiers of urban field recordings, be he still creates an uncanny and unlikely sense of place. It eases it's way slowly into earshot with a series of depth charge booms, muffled and reverberating, which powerfully sugest an illusory spacce or architecture.
